collective memory

These photographs document the unpacking of my family archive and question the psychological motives that drive us to preserve belongings for an unknown future. By synthesizing objects from different decades into a single frame, I hope to evoke the simultaneity of time that exists within our memories. The act of curating these objects together highlights the various associations they can take on, which are based upon the personal significance we assign to them. Whether a physical photograph or digital image on a screen, the medium we use to view the past can influence and distort our perception of it.  However, no matter what present we are a part of, our nostalgia for the past will always remain.
