Home is a complex word for me. For me, my memories are home and I found myself gravitating towards the senses that evoke memories. When I smell lavender, I’m instantly back in the lavender field with my family. The sight of daffodils brings me to my childhood home in the backyard with my swamp. The sound of geese outside brings me to the lake I grew up on and swam in every summer. My memories are constantly triggered by the smells or the sights or the feelings around me. This project brings memories and senses together in ways we are familiar with but don’t think too deeply about. I spend my time searching for those senses that bring good feelings back. My memories are my high and the smells, feelings, tastes, sights, and sounds are the drugs.
